Delegation Process Highlights

The RN delegation process focuses on safety and begins with a thorough resident assessment. Delegation is appropriate when the resident's condition is stable, the procedure does not require ongoing assessment, and outcomes are predictable with minimal risks

UAP Training and Guidance

To ensure unregulated assistive person (UAP) readiness, the RN provides education through an overview of the procedure's purpose, step-by-step instructions and ongoing assessment to confirm proficiency. Training includes written materials, hands on demonstrations, and a diabetes reference binder for staff to keep onsite for easy access and continued learning. All training materials are provided by our company to support confidence and consistency in delegated care.

Authorization and Monitoring

The RN may authorize the UAP to perform the procedure initially for up to 90 days and then extend up to 180 days based on performance assessments and experience. This includes regular evaluations and updates to the resident specific plan, ensuring the delegation is client-specific, time-limited, and non-transferable. To support communication and continuity of care, the RN will provide the community with an updated staff delegation chart so everyone is aware of the current delegation status and upcoming redelegation needs. A same day visit summary will also be provided after each visit.
